Here are clips from two of the finest "Jesus" films that I have yet seen. At the right is "Jesus of Nazareth", which I applaud for its excellent lifelike, three dimensional portrayal of the characters, especially Peter and Jesus. At the left is a rather offbeat retelling according to the Gospel of Matthew. However, it is one of the most loving, joyous, upbeat, and enlivening portrayals of the Gospel that I have ever seen. I viewed it 3 or 4 times in a row when Jesus was first opening up my heart some 35 years ago. I love it just as much today! If you watch it, don't do so as a legalistic, nit-picking Pharisee. Drink in the love, joy, and exuberance of the characters and of the movie itself.

Click to Download: 8 min. -- 53 mb	The musical production of Les Miserables is, in my opinion, one of the finest dramatic music presentations that I have ever seen. It deserves all of the praise, accolades, and ovations that it can receive !! There is also a dramatic production that I recommend. While it is in NO way a Christian production, yet I found the portrayal of a maniacal, Phariseeical self righteous portrayed better in the character of Javert than in ANY "religious" production. He carries it so far that, when confronted with the need to deviate from his legalistic obsession, and perhaps revaluate his view about Jean Valjean and even be grateful to him, he finds it so impossible and repulsive that instead he takes his own life. It is the story of the fall and redemption of Frenchman Jean Valjean, imprisoned for stealing some bread for his starving family. In prison, he is constantly harassed by the hard-nosed lawman, Javert. Valjean is paroled after nearly two decades of hard labor. A gift of two silver candlesticks from a kindly priest helps him begin anew. He breaks his parole and finds success as a businessman and as the mayor of a small town.. He meets a dying woman named Fantine and swears to raise her daughter. Javert catches up to him, but Valjean escapes. The daughter, Cosette, grows up and falls in love with Marius, a student. An ill-fated, student-led revolution makes the mother of all climaxes for this beauty of a production. The musical score vividly captures the passion of Victor Hugo's epic tale of post-Revolutionary France, combining tear-jerking ballads ("I Dreamed a Dream," "Bring Him Home") and rousing anthems ("Do You Hear the People Sing"). The format of this concert is closer to that of a dramatic cantata rather than a fully staged production; the singers stand at their microphones with an orchestra and chorus behind them and participate in some movement, but they do wear costumes. At certain points, such as the climax of the barricade scene, the video switches to action from a stage production. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra sounds great, and it can be thrilling when 200 choristers rise to their feet for a full-company number such as "One Day More."

Heartfelt gratitude goes out to all who taught any of us to follow the Lord.
