A Call to Prayer
by Phil Ware and Glenn Helmuth
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution, as adopted in 1791, reads as follows: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or * prohibiting the free exercise thereof *; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. |
Where can I find separation of church and state in the constitution? Although most people believe the words "separation of church and state" are actually in the US Constitution, the words cannot be found there. Rather, they are words penned by Thomas Jefferson in a letter which explains the First Amendment of the Constitution or at least Jefferson's view of it. The actual words in the First Amendment of the Constitution read as follows: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. . . ." "Wall of separation between church and state" -- History of phrase: In the fall of 1801, the Danbury (Conn.) Baptist Association sent Thomas Jefferson a written address congratulating him on his election. In his reply on January 1, 1802, Jefferson penned these now famous words: ". . .I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State." Jefferson's meaning: Was Jefferson merely assuring the Danbury Baptists that the government would never interfere with matters of the church or was he severing all connection between government and religious practice? It's revealing to note that two days after sending his reply to the Danbury Baptists, Jefferson attended a Sunday worship service held in the House of Representatives and continued to attend these services throughout his two terms in office. He also granted permission to various church denominations to worship in executive office buildings and conveyed in his First Inaugural Address the position that religion was necessary for the welfare of a government by the people and for the people.

I will venture to make the pronouncement that NO interpetation would have been more vigorously rejected by Thomas Jefferson and ALL of the signers of our Constitution than would the one above. What Thomas Jefferson did, IN FACT say, is that The Creator (we must first believe that there ACTUALLY is one for the Declaration of Independence to have ANY meaning) endowed upon His creation of mankind EQUALITY within the limits mentioned. These consisted of:
By inference, this would rule out ANY "class structure" whereby one group or class would have some "unalienable Right" to rule over or control another group. This, to be sure, was aimed DIRECTLY at the structure of the British government at the time, that is, the Monarchy or the "Divine Right of Kings and Nobility" to rule over the "lesser or lower classes". It would also rule out the "RIGHT" of the rich to rule over the poor, of the "intellectuals" to rule over the "common man", etc., etc., ETC. I am QUITE sure that Thomas Jefferson knew -- as WE would ALL know today if we would merely, "insure that our brain was engaged before putting our mouth in gear" -- that ALL men (and women) are in NO WAY "equal" when it comes to physical beauty (or form), intelligence, physical agility and/or ability, talents, creativity, personality or a host of other qualities. As a matter of fact, it would no doubt be safe to say that each and every person is UNequal - possessing these qualities in a constantly varying mix. It is a reflection of the "Smallness of Mind, Soul and Spirit" of MANY in positions of authority today that they would institute (or at least TRY to) such programs as have already been attempted AND instituted within much of the educational system. In many schools and classrooms, the philosophy is NOT to encourage those with exceptional talent to be recognized and excel as an inspiration to others. Rather, it is just the opposite !! The exceptionally talented are suppressed and held back so that the lesser talented (or perhaps those who are simply LAZY) will NOT be forced to notice that "they are NOT, in FACT, just like (equal to) everyone else" - and perhaps feel diminished. It is the, "Let us cut off the tops of the taller stalks so that we might ALL be 'equal'" syndrome !!!! Rather than excellence (in whatever form or venue) being exalted and striven for, it is rather mediocrity, "equality" (in the basest sense of the word) and conformity that are held forth as the "Norm" and as THAT which is to be desired. Students would rather be accepted than to excel - they would rather be part of the prevailing "gang or cliché" than of the "honor student society". Those with ability, brains and talent - who seek to USE them - are ostracized as "nerds and misfits", while the trouble makers and the "social misfits and rejects" are glamorized as the "Kings of KOOL". The accepted mentality becomes, "it is better to be popular than capable -- it is better to be just like everyone else than to excel and stand out as to who you are and what you do" !!! This is a MUST READ by ANYONE who is concerned about the continuing freedom of this nation. Click [ Here ] to buy CHEAP copies.
I would STRONGLY recommend reading, "Judicial Tyranny" -- the Dangers of Judicial Activism and The Separation Of Church And State. It points out that the TYRANNY that we need to fear is NOT from the president, corporate giants, nor some religious group. It is rather from atheist, activist federal judges who believe that they are not only above the Constitution of the US which they are sworn to uphold, but are equally above ANY "supreme authority"!! Fools say to themselves, There is no God. They sin and commit evil deeds (are CORRUPT); none of them does what is right. **** Psalms 14:1-5 |

Today we live in a society where it is ALMOST impossible to know who is telling the truth and who is lying and following their own agenda. I ran across THIS VIDEO. It was sponsored by a VERY suspect "conspiracy theory group" going under the name of "Qanon". I did not follow Donald Trump's presidency that closely, but if the general theme of his service to this nation and his values is at all truly depicted in the video, then I MUST weep and say that we have INDEED lost a great president and upholder of the values that this nation was founded upon and for. It gives me a clearer idea as to why he had (has?) such a loyal following, ESPECIALLY in the face of what the opposition appears to have to offer !!!!! |
The following was nationally distributed in the United States by the Associated Press and appeared in the New York Daily News on Friday, November 4, 1949. The measures being referenced are those in the Fair Deal, the cradle-to-grave welfare state proposal of President Harry S Truman to follow up on Franklin Roosevelts New Deal of the 1930s. Fortunately at the time, most of these measures were not adopted but with bi-partisan support, most have since become federal law.

Let the whiners, the complainers, the armchair critics and the protesters of TODAY read these words and take heed. Either shut your mouth and ACTUALLY DO something yourself, or get out of the way and let those who are at least willing to TRY get on their work. As was said, "If you are not part of the solution, YOU are part of the problem!!!"
